NEIGHBORHOOD CLEAN UP DAY – SATURDAY, DECEMBER 5th - 9am

December's Neighborhood Clean Up has been cancelled.  In the meantime please consider improving Dunwoody Forest's curb appeal by cleaning the curb in front of your house by removing leaves and other loose debris and growth.  Leaves and other loose debris wash down the street and clog our street drains and cause problems for other residents. Thanks for your consideration and cooperation.

RECAP OF CURB CLEANUP—OCTOBER 3rd 2009

Six residents showed up to work on the low area towards the western end of Remington Road [sometimes referred to as "Lake Remington"].  Bagels and cream cheese were brought and much appreciated by the volunteers.

PAULA SHIVER NOT RUNNING FOR REELECTION AS PRESIDENT OF DFNA

We are sad to say that DFNA's first President, Paula Shiver is not seeking a position on the board again.  Paula has been integral in getting the DFNA up and running.  She has been very active in reaching out to our neighbors regarding various issues to make us feel more like a community.  All her hard work and effort as DFNA President is much appreciated.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Paula Shiver for helping to lay the foundation for the DFNA, and we will continue to build on this work with the new board that will be elected soon.

MARIST DEVELOPMENTS

The Ashford Alliance has hosted two recent meetings on the recent purchase by Marist School of the Cross Creek property just north of the school.  The purchase effectively doubles the size of the Marist campus.  Plans include new practice and playing fields, foot bridges, foot trails, one vehicular bridge across Nancy Creek, and extra parking spaces.  All this and more is to be done without any increase in enrollment.  Marist's President, Father John Harhager, and attorneys Kathryn Zickert and Dennis Webb have been meeting with local residents on such issues as campus lighting, buffer zones, environmental impact, and traffic flow.  Final zoning decisions were to have been made later this month, but Marist is now seeking a deferment to address the neighbors' issues.

CHILLY OKTOBERFEST

Thanks to everyone who braved the cold weather on Oct. 17th for the annual DF Oktoberfest.  There was great food and even better company.  We look forward to a warmer one next year.

DUNWOODY FOREST NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION’S ELECTIONS/MEETING

In December 2009 at the annual meeting, DFNA members will vote and elect the next Board of Directors for our neighborhood association. Some of the existing Board members have completed their term of service and chosen not to run for re-election; so that creates some vacancies. Several new candidates will be needed to fill these vacancies.

If you are interested in becoming more involved in improving Dunwoody Forest and serving its residents, this is your opportunity. To be eligible as a candidate, residents must renew or (or join) the DF Association for 2010. Dues are $25 a year.

Maybe you are interested in becoming a candidate, but concerned about the commitment. A question often asked is: I would like to serve on the Board but I am busy, how much time will this take? The current Board meets every other month for 1 to 1.5 hours.

If you are interested in becoming a candidate for the 2010 Board of Director's please send an e-mail to .

The meeting and election will take place at the Chamblee Library on December 15th from 7-9pm.
